Understanding GDPR
Approved by the European Commission in 2016 and effective as of May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a comprehensive European privacy law that replaced Directive 95/46/EC, the foundation of European data protection since 1995.
The GDPR modernizes EU privacy law to align with contemporary legal standards, including the recognition of privacy as a fundamental human right. It establishes regulations for obtaining, using, storing, and removing personal data, with the goal of providing EU citizens and residents greater control over their personal information.
